The basic lesson was just learning how to see. Almost everyone has enough hand-eye coordination to learn how to draw and paint, it's taking the time to see, break down, and then bring together again what you are drawing and painting that is the barrier for most people.

I used to start them drawing bunches of radishes, and ask them to make the radishes the size of their head... for years I'd run into students who'd tell me that they had gone on to art school, or were still painting, and how those radishes were often some of the favourite work they had done.

Light and dark is everything.

And, lovely little painting, by the way--don't think I've told you before, but I enjoy your work.kolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07648985808921944343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16840352.post-12989991696921015842007-08-28T10:55:00.000-06:002007-08-28T10:55:00.000-06:00you got the light just right! beautiful!!!you got the light just right! beautiful!!!valerie walshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15680334509469712078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16840352.post-37639054224340957662007-08-28T10:27:00.000-06:002007-08-28T10:27:00.000-06:00A fine piece.
