Circular Joe took a spin in the round
ice skating rink on the cold side of town.
He zipped, and he whipped,
then he slipped, and he flipped.
And he soared through the air with his up-sides, down!

This is the best! I can't wait to show my husband who is an ice-skating nut. He misses it so much. And he also gets a sick pleasure from watching people flip!
Happy new year, Cat!
Ha ha - birds are meant to flip and skip... fly and dive, but your picture presents a whole other aspect LOL! Love it.
Adorable! The one on the ice is so enchanting! He is really focused.

Haha...neato!...and wow, the days of Christmas illos are something else! The best to you in the New Year, Cat!
I swear, you should be writing kids' books or cartoons or something. You should be getting rich off this stuff.
Looks like me and my boyfriend in our twenties... hhehehe... We were trying hard, though! Today, I'm not able to skate anymore... But I like to watch! :) This illo put a smile on my face. I LOVE the ice-skating shoes!
Hilarious and wonderful! Love the colours and the layers, what a delight! Happy New Year my friend!
I thought I had left a comment earlier but don't see it now. Just want to know if your illustrations are available for purchase. Thanks! Love you blog!
Very cute, the picture an verse brought a smile to my face.
I've watched crows on the roof across the way...there are two depressions on the roof...in the summer, they served as bird baths after a good rain...and now that it's winter...they're large sheets of slippery goodness.
It's hilarious to watch the crows slipping around as they try to cross them.
And when he landed he broke his crown.
Och.
I'm revisiting Joe.
