That wee bit of purple is gel ink. I actually used more than is showing. I think the scanner isn't picking up as well as it should.

Visiting Birds

My moleskine is now 31 pages in, but a good 10 pages are yet to be coloured. I've been drawing china tea cups, and they do not finish well in ink or even magic marker...watercolour is definitely called for.
But here are some birds that I was able to finish. Crows, sparrows, and starlings come to my window every day. There are 5 crows who come right up next to me when the window is open. I coo at them, and they coo back. (anything for a few peanuts...)

more moleskinerie
Drawing these doesn't take nearly the time colouring them in does...I have days of stuff I haven't screwed up the courage to colour in...

My Fourth Moleskine Entry

I have stopped drawing pictures on my cafe tickets...I thought I would do it in a moleskine instead...one every day. It hasn't been working out that way. This is the 23rd of January, and I've only finished 4 pages.
I'm putting them up at Flickr. So when you click on the image, you will find the uncropped image there.
The "haiku" reads:
In January
spring waits, warmed by a small bird's
imagination.

Birdly's stuck on the glue pot.
I drew this with ink and coloured it with markers. I put it up on flickr, and they have a "share" button, so I thought I'd give that a try and see what it did.

Heavy, Dude.

In their shop way up high in the sky,
plans fixing Joe went awry.
Using mortar and bricks,
they made him too thick.
And now he's too heavy to fly.

talisman

One-Shoe Magoo
slept under a wooden bridge
I crossed every morning
on the way to school.
Hair the colour of blood
whipped wildly about her head,
and tangled in the rosaries
strung around her neck.
She wore colossal pink roses
on a grey sack,
and she covered her shins
with brown-on-browner argyle socks.
There was stuck on her right foot
an oxblood penny loafer.
And written in bold letters
around its heel,
from instep to side step,
in black magic marker,
was the name:
Magoo.
