In't he cute?

(ante script: If babytalk offends thee, do not click on this video.)

We're not supposed to keep pets, but what the landlord doesn't know...

I wonder - should I name him, or keep calling him Sweetheart?

In relation to my comments to Mick, here's a photo of Marmalade running away with a (nearly empty) jar of peanut butter.

Lovely! (We have four who live here -- two blacks and two greys -- and they'll be pretty disappointed to learn that the roof guy broke their water dish today!)

Adorable. But in your house? Really? I thought they were pretty destructive.

That's not a pet. That's another odd neighbor. We love them.

Adorable as he may be, it started much this way with my father some 25 years ago. First, peanuts on the lawn, then on the porch and soon enough, right out of his hand! One winter, the squirrel decided to move into the house and caused thousands of dollars worth of damage before being evicted.

Well, if no-one's supposed to know, you could always call him Secret Squirrel. :)

andrea: i'm laughing out loud over here.

patia: i'm not really gonna keep him in here. i'm just fantasizing, cuz he visits every day now.

fred: yep. you got it exactly.

mick: when i was in student housing, we had a squirrel who would come to me when i called her...like a dog. i called her marmalade. i have a few photos of me feeding her peanut butter from a spoon, and of her eating walnuts from my hand.

the problem was, she really didn't distinguish one human from another. squirrels aren't nearly as intelligent as crows. marmalade scared the holy hell out of the lady downstairs. she ran in her house chattering one day...expecting to be fed, i expect.

aaron and studio: i really like the name, secret squirrel. i'm gonna hafta go with aaron. LOL

Oh my God I love it. Especially the 'yes you are'. har har

Aren't you afraid that it would jump on your face and scratch your eyeballs out.

I am such a chicken shit. If it came close to me I would be afraid.

Love Renee xoxoxo

Ha ha.. I hope that squirrel was able to get some jam or milk... else he/she will be back for something to wash out the peanut butter :)!

yes. that's exactly why the frog is there. you can see that the squirrel is checking him out cuz that froggie wasn't here before!when we were talking about me getting him on the camera, i knew then that i was gonna put that silly frog in the frame.

el oh el.

So good to have you back, Cat. Keep em coming...

Yay! Now all he'll need is a little fedora with eye holes in it, and a mole for a sidekick...

Have you tamed them both? That's so neat!

I half tamed a squirrel who would come when I whistled for him. Called him Benny. He was in the area for almost three years before he disappeared, probably to the talons of a hawk.

Your little buddy is a joy to watch.

Cat? Where are you, kiddo? Speak up, we're starting to worry.

Careful...that appears to be the man-eating Montana Death Squirrel (Sciurus carnivorus).
