talisman

One-Shoe Magoo
slept under a wooden bridge
I crossed every morning
on the way to school.

Hair the colour of blood
whipped wildly about her head,
and tangled in the rosaries
strung around her neck.

She wore colossal pink roses
on a grey sack,
and she covered her shins
with brown-on-browner argyle socks.

There was stuck on her right foot
an oxblood penny loafer.
And written in bold letters
around its heel,

from instep to side step,
in black magic marker,
was the name:
Magoo.

A Fluffy Lap

On fluffy lap
he falls asleep,
and dreams of tigers
in jungles deep.

Hunting food
and keeping guard,
he rules the world
his own backyard.

Nook and Cranny

Nook and Cranny hid for hours,
tucked away between the folds
of denim jeans and wooley sweaters,
warmed by love and wonders told:
dusty boxes, balls of string,
and waiting laps that never scold.

The Swoon of Nimmy Nish

This is a rough idea of something I'm working on...a story that will be told in about 8 verses...or less, dunno. The illustrations will probably not even look like this...but I liked the way the blue looked, and had to play with it.

This is crop of the larger picture. As with most of my illustrations, just go ahead and click on the image to catch the details.

Comments, questions, and critique are welcome. I've got pieces of other verses done, but am not quite sure yet how to put them together.

As I put up each verse, an illustration will accompany...but that won't be for a few weeks. I have two cats I'm working on right now for my friend, Gypsy.

If you saw the words, Gni Gnis, would you pronounce them NeNeece, or would you try to say the G? I'm going to need to decide how to "spell" NeNeece/Gni Gnis.

What's in YOUR navel?

In the middle of the center
of the circle of his wiggle,
was the button of his belly
and the reason for his giggle.

When the tippit of his tickle
of his finger with a squiggle,
touched his tummy full of jelly,
just enough to make it wiggle.

But the jiggle woke a lintle
from the fuzzy of its nestle.
Peeking out, it shook its woolies,
at the keeper of its vessel.

"Have you no consideration
for the nappers in your nichle?
Cut it out, or do it lestle.
Else I'll make your middle itchle!"

Head over Heels

Circular Joe took a spin in the round
ice skating rink on the cold side of town.
He zipped, and he whipped,
then he slipped, and he flipped.
And he soared through the air with his up-sides,
down!
